Erik Tryggestad


Erik Tryggestad joined the staff of The Christian Chronicle in 2001 after working as a writer and assistant civic editor for the Savannah Morning News in Georgia. He has covered international news for the Chronicle for more than a decade, filing stories from 50-plus countries around the world. He became the Chronicle's editor in December 2013.

Born near Washington, D.C., he grew up in Macon, Ga., at the Southside Church of Christ (now Thomaston Road Church of Christ) and graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., in 1996. He earned a master's in journalism from the University of Georgia in 1999 and was a reporter for the Athens, Ga., Daily News. He was an active member of the Georgia Christian Student Center at the Campus View Church of Christ and remains a die-hard fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Tryggestad met his wife, Jeanie, in Oklahoma. Dr. Jeanie Tryggestad is a pediatric endocrinologist for the Children's Hospital of Oklahoma. They are members and Bible class teachers for the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City and have two daughters.
